SEPTA Funding Crisis Update

Dear SEPTA Stakeholder,

We want to make you aware of major service and fare changes that may impact your organization and the people you serve. Without additional funding in the coming weeks from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, SEPTA will be forced to implement a 21.5% fare hike and reduce transit services starting August 24, 2025. These steps are needed to close a $213 million budget gap caused by rising operating costs, the end of federal COVID relief, and ridership that hasn’t fully rebounded from the pandemic.

All transit modes will be affected, especially the bus system. These significant changes could impact access to jobs, schools, and essential services. We are posting alerts at transit centers and discontinued bus stops – and we need your help sharing information with your network.
