About The Study. Through a rigorous mixed-methods approach—combining data from a national survey of 246 Black-led nonprofits, 715 white-led organizations, and 152 led by other people of color, along with in-depth interviews with 24 Black nonprofit leaders—this study lifts up the courageous strategies Black-led nonprofits are using to stay true to their mission amid these storms. The voices and data gathered reveal resilience, complexity, and fierce determination to serve Black communities authentically.
