From the L&I Referral and the owner’s letter to near neighbors – Application for the use Personal Care Home in an existing attached structure. We are seeking approval to open a small community home for adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism at 6027 Hazelhurst Street, a single-family home in the neighborhood. Personal Care Home is defined as “Any premises in which food, shelter, and personal assistance or supervision are provided for a period exceeding 24 hours for four or more adults who are not relatives of the operator, who do not require the services in or of a licensed long-term care facility, but who do require assistance or supervision in such matters as dressing, bathing, diet, financial management, evacuation from the residence in the event of an emergency, or medication prescribed for self-administration.” Where the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare requires, personal care homes must comply with 55 Pa. Code Chapter 2600.
